Join us for an informative presentation that will cover basic concepts of negotiations. We will review seven principles of effective negotiations and share tips to ensure the best outcome every time you negotiate. It’s a win-win hour full of useful tips and fun, not to be missed!
Our Speaker: Ligia M Velazquez is a Commissioner of Labor Mediation for the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS). As a federal mediator, Commissioner Velazquez serves as a confidential neutral working toward amicable contract settlements primarily between management and labor unions. She received her commission in 2010.
In addition to dispute settlement, Ms. Velazquez works in the area of preventative mediation, providing assessment, training, coaching and facilitation skills that will achieve enhanced working relationships. She has extensive experience in the phases of interest-based negotiations procedures, organizational change management and labor-management partnership development.
Commissioner Velazquez works with parties to create processes that best meets the goals of the group be it a facilitated conversation in a small work department or managing complex negotiations with several stakeholders and various competing interests.
She has performed extensive work in Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and is a regular trainer for the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Institute for Conflict Management and is a sough after presenter for professional development conferences in the Pacific Northwest
